I needed to create some templates for an Arts History project. I needed large letters on a black background which could then be turned into transparencies. I wrote the paper at home in Appleworks on my //c. I then took it to work to use one of the Macs so that I could print it out on the Laserwriter. I had to try three different macs to find one that would print. It seems that the drivers keep crashing, at least in this particular lab. Admittedly, I don't use the mac or Pagemaker that much but I had two lab assistants who do helping me. I xfered the file into Macwrite with no problem. It took all morning to get what I wanted! Then, when I finally had it I found that a paragraph had been dropped in the middle of the paper at a page break. The Mac people had all sorts of very nice explanations. It seems they get a lot of practice at explaining lost papers, etc. Anyway, I went home, pulled out Publish-IT!2 and had the whole thing done (including printing) in less than 45 minutes. The moral of the story? When you've got a good thing stick with it till the smoke comes out. ******************************************************************** * * * bob church bchurch@oucsace.cs.ohiou.edu * * * * If economics isn't an "exact" science why do computers crash * * so much more often than the stock market? * * bc * ********************************************************************
