is there a known ethernet glitch which can panic entire clusters
of HP workstations (9000/3xx) ?? 

occasionally, one segment o workstations will all panic, while HPs
other segments chug happily away.  perhaps it's that reverse polish
logic inside HP's kernel, eh?
