The sound made by my C: drive is so distinctive, I could never mistake a spin failure. And, as I stated in my first posting, I have had to pull the drive out, spin its hub, and put it back in on an almost DAILY basis for the last several months. This ALWAYS cures the problem. I am trying to get a reading through this group on whether this is a typical failure for current hard drive technology independent of manufacturer. -bd- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bob Davis \\\ INTERNET : sonny@trantor.harris-atd.com Harris Corporation, ESS \\\ UUCP : ...!uunet!x102a!trantor!sonny Advanced Technology Department \\\ AETHER : K4VNO PO Box 37, MS 3A/1912 \\\ VOICE : (407) 727-5886 Melbourne, FL 32902 \\\ FAX : (407) 729-2537
