I do have a shareware program that will do just that.  It is, a TSR program,
called BACKSCRL.  IT IS PRETTY OLD!  Copyright in 1983.  Still good though. 
The program itself takes up 6,700 bytes and it is 2,000 bytes for each screen. 
The screen buffer goes from 1 to 28 screens (ie. 8,700 to 62,700 bytes) with
the default of 4 buffers.  I used it a couple times then....
