Keywords: MKS TOOLKIT UNIX DOS Message-ID: <9000@hubcap.clemson.edu> Date: 8 May 90 09:23:57 GMT Organization: Clemson University, Clemson, SC Lines: 33 I recently purchased the MKS Toolkit. (Joy of joys, I've been waiting to buy this package for a couple of years now!!) I've read through the manual(s), and I think I've done a good job of setting my PC to look a _LOT_ like a unix box. But I've probably missed a lot a details. So anyone out there with some MKS experience, I'd love to hear about any tips (or traps) that you know of. (I know I could write MKS at their Email address, but I really don't have a lot of specific questions, I'm really just looking for general advice.) Some sample questions I thought about: Does the toolkit use EMS memory (either type)? If so, do you have to do anything special to use this memory? How hard is it to use the toolkit utilities over a serial link? Is there a way to get around having garbage left in the envonment when setting up a DOS account (under configuration 4?) How hard is it to get mailx to work with UUPC? How typical is it for programs to choke and die on a switch character other than '/'? How "secure" is login? Please Email, and I'll post as soon as the replies trickle off.
