I am running CAP via a Multigate on a SPARCstation 1 (Sun, that is). One of my users just brought a _very_ odd problem to me. He has a volume of another user mounted, with all appropriate write permissions. MS Word is on a locked server volume. He opens a document in the other user's directory, edits it, and tries to save. He gets (on his plus) a system error, on my Mac II a "Serious disk error, can't save". A "Save As" to the other user's directory fails as well. Yet, the group has (on the directory and the files) rwx privileges. Now for the real weirdness. If I log in as him, link the same volumes, but use the copy of Word on my hard disk, everything works. I copied that version to the locked volume, tried again. "Serious disk error." On his own volume, everything works fine. If anyone has ever seen this before, or has any idea what is going on, I'd appreciate hearing about it! Thanks in advance, Matthew Lewis Sys Admin, OOC Project University of Amsterdam -- Matthew Lewis, University of Amsterdam Grote Bickersstraat 72 31-20-52 51 220 1013 KS Amsterdam Internet: matthew@ooc.uva.nl The Netherlands UUCP: uunet!mcsun!hp4nl!uvabick!matthew
