It was a 40M Seagate ST251. I replaced it with a ST171, a 49M, 28ms drive. I used the CMS formatting utility which came with the original drive and everything works. QUESTION: Did the old utility get the interleave factor and whatever other parameters there may be correct for optimum performance?
