Message-ID: <1101@physiol.su.oz.au> Date: 4 May 90 02:06:04 GMT Organization: Physiology Dept., Univ. of Sydney, NSW, Australia Lines: 9 I find xrdb slow. Logging into an otherwise unloaded BSD4.3 uVax from an NCD16 takes _minutes_ between typing the password and getting the first window. Removing most of the files from /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults eliminates the problem (or at least minimises it). I also know xrdb is the time-consumer through watching processes from another terminal. This slow login only became evident when we installed R4, but of course the difference could be in the app-defaults files, or their number, rather than in xrdb. Is xrdb inherently slow, or do we have some other problem?
