When shopping for X training (or any training for that matter) you should
think about some of the following:  (I've included comments on Hands-on
(based on their current literature) and Integrated Computer Solutions' 
courses.)

Is the course format lecture or lab?
  The Hands-on course is lecture, demonstration, discussion.
  ICS courses are lecture & lab.  Half your time is spent actually 
   programming.  We run labs with a max of 2 people/station.  We have
   20 Sony workstations (8 plane color) which we use in lab.

Does the course focus on toolkit programming, or on Xlib?
  The Hands-on course is three days.  Only during last of the three days
   is the toolkit covered explicitly.  Much of their first day is basically
   a 'Using X' course.
  ICS focuses on the toolkit.  Only after toolkit basics are covered do we
   get into Xlib programming.  Our goal is to reduce the X learning curve
   from 3 months to 2 weeks.

How much programming experience do the instructors have?
How much teaching experience do the instructors have?
  Hands-on instructors generally have quite a bit of teaching experience.
   I don't know how much programming they do.
  ICS instructors are programmers when they're not teaching.  They have from
   one to five years of teaching experience.  (Teaching an average of one
   week a month.)

Then there are logistic considerations such as location and price...
  I don't know what Hands-on offers.
  ICS courses are offered every month, alternating between Boston and the
   Silicon Valley areas.  We're expensive, but worth it:-)
