McReynolds) Newsgroups: comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d Subject: removal of CR Summary: How to convert standard text to WordStar (line endings) Keywords: CR-LF CR text WordStar file conversion Message-ID: <470@ra.MsState.Edu> Date: 29 May 90 07:29:02 GMT Distribution: comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d Organization: Mississippi State University Lines: 16 When generating a standard text file with an MS-DOS text editor, each line is typically ended with what I take to be a CR or a CR-LF. However, WordStar documents are not ended by such a character and so when I import a text document into WordStar (for my employer) I have to go through and remove the '<' at the end of each line one by one. Is there some way of getting around this? I know about flip, the program which converts files between **IX and MS-DOS and that program does *not* do what I want. Rather, I would like to be able to strip CR's off line endings so that files will be easier to format in WordStar. Incidently, what are the actual characters which end standard MS-DOS text files? People keep saying that they are CR-LF's. Is this a special character or is it simply a chr(13) followed by a chr(10)? Been wondering... pam1@ra.msstate.edu sop@athena.ee.msstate.edu dbeattie@msstate.bitnet rm -r *flames*
