What I want to do is bind a particular function to a particular key,
but also KEEP THE OLD BINDING.

For example, I'd like to bind, say '}' to r-brace-pressed, but have
some way of letting r-brace-pressed know what the old binding was, and
call it when r-brace-pressed is done.  Can I do that?  How?  In fact,
I'd like to do that for many keys, so something reasonably efficient
would be nice....
