Lines: 28 I just started reading this group, so bear with me if this has (most of it probably has) been discussed before. A bit of background. I have access to a satellite dish, and watch NASA select TV during all the missions, Hubble conferences, etc. I put most on video tape. At the local university, they had the loan of an IRIS and a frame grabber which produced humongous RGB images (790K) from a VCR, and then had a utility called TOGIFF which reduced it to a GIF format image approximately 600X400X256 . I can look at a GIF image on my PC at home. Last weekend, I made 24 GIF images of the Hubble first light image, as well as some from the flight footage (launch, deploy, landing, etc.). The IRIS has gone back to SGI. I would like to find a board that I can plug my VCR into and grab an image. At most all I want to play with is contrast, brightness, hue and saturation. I am not interested in this point of doing more than being able to get a picture from video tape to my PC. What does the conventional wisdom suggest for boards, any software to drive said boards, and a ball park price. Any replies by mail, or within the group would be appreciated. Thanks. -- Greg Roberts International Information Service (IIS) UUCP: {uunet, utai, watmath}!dalcs!iisat!roberts Bitnet/Uucp: roberts@iisat.uucp "Nostalgia isn't what it used to be...""
