I'm a student in a computer science school and I'm studying OSI Management standards. I have some questions about these standards. 1 - Consider a computer network and a set of video equipments (video cameras, video recorders) which can be driven througth the computer network (images are transmitted on a separate video network). For instance you can log on your machine, start a video-server program and say : connect camera C to video recorder R, and then say to R to start the recording. My question is : can a video equipment be considered as a "MANAGED OBJECT" as it is defined in OSI Management Standards ? 2 - I have been told that FDDI networks can transmit images. In such a system, images and data are transmitted on the same support. My question is the same as in 1. 3 - Can a video equipment be considered as an open system ? In my mind MANAGED OBJECTS are only ressources which are used by open systems during communications. That why i think that video equipments can't be managed througth OSI Management. I'd like to know what some other people think about this. Thank you.
