Keywords: Help(!) Message-ID: <21665@boulder.Colorado.EDU> Date: 29 May 90 23:15:26 GMT Sender: news@boulder.Colorado.EDU Reply-To: hunt@tramp.Colorado.EDU (Lee Cameron Hunt) Distribution: na Organization: University of Colorado, Boulder Lines: 20 I asked this a week ago in c.s.a.t and got no reply so I'm asking it here... Whilst moving a file on my hard disk I got a write error. It seemed to go away after I hit "Retry," but upon a later reboot my hard disk tried (and failed) to validate. An error requestor was put up saying (something like): "Key 180840 already set." I know which file caused the error, but I cannot alter it (eg: erase it) 'cause AmigaDOS won't let me touch an unvalidated disk. So I ask, is there anything I can do short of backing up the entire disk and reformatting? And what is a AmigaDOS "key" anyway? I'm up for some low-level AmigaOS hacking if necessary... Thanks much... --Lee "Nothing is more disorginized than Calvinball!" -- Calvin & Hobbes hunt@spot.colorado.edu ...!ncar!boulder!spot!hunt
