A friend of mine got the 40 MEG hard drive for his A2000 in his lab. It worked resonably well. It is not blazingly fast, but it is adequate. The drive is 3 1/2" and is mounted on the board. The mount is rather flimsy since the board does not have a back plate which allows you to attach it to the back of the machine. So, for safety, you're have to mount it in the floppy drive bay. The ribbon that comes with the drive is quite short, so if it is mounted on the bay, you'll have to make a new one. One major feature that is missing in this drive is the ability to AUTOBOOT, so you'll have to boot off the floppy drive that is supplied along with the package. The documentation of the package is also rather poor. There was no mention of any hard drive utilities (ie: low level format, partitioning). These programs are supposedly on the hard drive and the startup floppy, but they are not apparent. The company is sending those instruction to my friend separatedly. All in all, it is a pretty decent drive, and would work well as a secondary fixed disk. But because of the lack of autoboot it would not work as well as the primary hard drive. But for the price, I think it is worth it! BTW, does anyone know whether AE release the high density 3 1/2" floopy drive for the Amiga yet??? ================================================================== William Chan BITNET:B9FL@RPITSMTS INTERNET:CHAN@PAWL.RPI.EDU ==================================================================
