I would not really appreciate getting HP/UX (or nothing) for our Apollo platforms. Though Apollos have lots of minor quirks that regularly infuriate me, they have a quite nice OS. The only problem is the instability and the incompatibilty with lots of vanilla UNIX systems. I quite like (and dislike) the Apollo file system - the // directory is a real nice idea, but having ACLs and locks get in your way every day (has anybody got nn to work *WITHOUT* a MASTER file on every node?). The only real *BAD* thing is the lack of third party RAM, discs etc. which makes Apollo's prices much higher than other vendors. But on the whole it is a good OS - Ultrix 1.0 had lots of bugs also and now it is working OK. The only thing I'm afraid of is that the Apollo line could be killed before Apollo has reached this point. Which would really be a pitty :-( bye, mike ____ ____ / / / / / Michael K.
