The monitor has no planes. The display interface board has planes. The 98782A monitor can be used with several different display board. You need to look at the other end of the RGB cable to find the meaningful model number. I suspect that you have a 98547 display card with 6 planes. Very early X11 servers for this display reported 8 planes and 64 colormap entries. More recent servers report 6 planes. > Is there a way to change the default colormap size for > the server?
