They are shareware programs, so you can get them cheap, they have built in help screens, and they can create pure ASCII files. I have two younger sisters, 8 and 13, and they have both used PC-Write and liked it. PC-Write Lite is just a trimmed down version of PC-Write, which is quite a comprehensive word procssor.
