I am looking for information from the MAC gurus out there regarding
printers for the SE/30.  This is a machine I soon expect to have at home 
and as such, I cannot justify the cost of either the laserprinters or 
the HP Deskwriter.  I am also a bit uncomfortable spending $450+ for the 
9-pin imagewriter II when I see IBM-compatible 24-pin printers for under $300.

My questions are:

1) Are there any non-apple printers available 
   that work with the MAC printer port that cost $200-$400
   and offer superior output to the imagewriter II?  Do I need specialized
   software?

2) As a new SE/30 user, should I care whether the printer uses the printer
   port or a serial port (Is this a stupid question?)?
