Another problem seems to be in how the disc was layed out and/or mastered. I have a few discs, and the 'good' ones (Phil&Dave's, WholeEarth) take no time to insert and come up, get info, etc. The 'Bad' one (a pre-release of a public-domain collection) takes about FIVE MINUTES just to load onto the desktop when I insert it! And I have the (current) fastest disc drive! > These do not seem like valid 'I Hate CDROM' comments. In fact, I >am very leary of a posting that asks for Hate comments. Hear hear, EXCEPT let's look at (one of) the original complaints: >>Apple should fix the finder so that operations can be aborted with >>command period, (i.e. like Get Info). This I think we can all agree with, and APPLE HAS BEGUN TO DO IT!!!!!!!!! I can't tell you how glad I was the other day when the following occured. I'd carefully put away a (floppy) disk I had ejected, however I'd left its 'ghost' on the desktop. I double-clicked some application (on my hard disk) to launch it, and was given the dreaded 'Please insert the floppy you just put away' modeless dialog box. Well, friends, I just hit the old Command-. and the dialog box WENT AWAY! AND THE APPLICATION LAUNCHED! HURRAY! Thanks, Apple!
