The key question: if sid-II is available for $45 and MacRecorder for ~$150, 
which is better when you consider $100 worth of sharware or $100 worth of
MacRecorder software?  In the past, the low cost hardware wasn't available
to most people, so you had the bundled software anyway.

(Has this been summarized somewhere earlier?)
