I'm amused to see such a request coming from someone at Sun....

In any case, the Spring 1990 SPEC newsletter (volume 2, issue 2),
has lots of spec numbers for MIPS based machines, from several
manufactuerers (MIPS, Digital).  Below are some results clearly
marked as from the 2.1 compilers.

MIPS RC2030 (16.67 MHZ R2000) 		- 10.0
MIPS M/2000 (25 MHZ R3000)	 	- 17.6
MIPS RC6280  (60 MHZ R6000, beta hardware) - 42.2

Digital DS5000/200 (25 MHZ R3000) 	- 18.5
Digital DS5400 (20 MHZ R3000)		- 11.8
