I changed the CONSOLELESS paramater in the kernel to a 1. My question is: What does changing the CONSOLELESS paramater to 1 do for me? The Superuser Guide is very vague about this. The messages still appear on the console ( I tested this by running a filesystem out of space ). Our current systems are based on Sys V rel 2 and often our machines get hung when the system wants to write the console which was switched off by some energy concious individual. I realize we could fake the leads to the Tower using a special console cable. But I was hoping that the CONSOLESS parameter in System V rel 3 would do the trick. Must we purchase some additional HW/SW from NCR? -- James R.
