The documentation is not very helpful; in particular it is rather terse about the hardware interface needed to convert the RS-232 ports to MIDI levels. There is an implication somewhere that anything that works with a MAC will work with the NeXT. I am currently using a home-built interface box, based on an 1985 article by Kirk Austin in Mactutor. When I turn on the synth, even before I start sending data, it complains about a MIDI data error. When I run playmidifile, the synth's MIDI monitor mode shows data coming across, but I've misplaced my spec and so I can't interpret the data. Could somebody who has a working MIDI setup please describe your hardware for me? I'm hooked up to serial port A, if that matters. -- Geoff Kuenning geoff@ITcorp.com uunet!desint!geoff
