Here's something I bet none of you though of:

Every time a get a piece of mail, my machine thrashes for ~20-30 seconds.  This
is *really* annoying.  Of course, we all know what the solution is ...

On the other hand, I get my news via nntp from another machine, so I don't have
to put up with all the overhead.  Unfortunately, the machine I get news from is
going to disappear very soon ...  Blech!

As for which distribution method I prefer, it's a toss-up.
