I'm trying to solve what should be an easy problem that is to date eluding me. I want to make a daemon out of a process (fork, exit parent, call setpgrp(), etc.) but at some point in time when interactive work is necessary, reattach to a designated tty. Further assume that the tty has a shell open on it. I've figured out how to do everything except make the shell dormant. Any brilliant ideas? Direct Email appreciated.
