As others have said, I feel your mother needs psychological help. Her problems can't be blamed totally on MS. Her behaviour is that same as that exhibited by 'normal' people. She is milking her 'disability'. I have no idea what support systems are common in the States. Here in Canada, we generally have social workers available through the MS Societies as well as peer and spouse groups. At the medical level, we have psychologists who specialize in helping people with chronic neurological disorders, and occupational therapists that could assess what a person with MS can do. Reading between the lines of your messages, I think you still love your mother even though she has been a royal pain. My concern would be for your father. I can just imagine the guilt trip that has been laid on him. It probably goes along the line of "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be in a wheelchair.", etc. I think he could really benefit from a spouse support group. At least then he could vent some of the frustrations that he must have pent up inside him. I hope you are now enjoying your new home. Good luck.
