I think it is an emulation bug that when procomm receives the 80th character it automatically places the cursor on the next line. The curses package assumes this will not happen until the 81st character is received. The result is that long lines get screwed up in your vi display until you turn line wrap off. Without a more detailed description of what exactly "doesn't seem to go well" I can't help much more. --- John A.
