I tried to mail this directly but it didn't make it.

I'm not certain of Apple's plans for CL/1, they're calling it DAL for
Data Access Language now.  However, I have been looking at another
product called ClearAccess.  This is a desk accessory that works with
CL/1 to allow the user to build their queries by pointing and clicking
rather than learning sql.
 
These queries can be saved as scripts to be run again later as well. 
They can also be called from within a Microsoft Excel macro allowing you
to download the information directly into your spreadsheet.
 
The part that might be interesting to you is that ClearAccess can talk
directly to Oracle without CL/1.  When I last spoke to their rep at the
beginning of May I was told they plan to write other direct connects to
database packages.  ClearAccess is marketed by Fairfield Software, 200
West Lowe, Fairfield, Iowa  52556.  Ridley Hutchinson is the National
Accounts Manager (515)472-7077.
 
Let me know how if you find anything interesting.  I am still looking at
this myself.  We will most likely be going with both packages.
