The idea is to avoid having to feed a new NRS-derived sendmail.cf into each client each day. Having added a "Dm" line which says "Dmmrc-apu.cam.ac.uk" to the SUN supplied file, I think it works for the client machines OK. However when I try to use the same slave config file for a "mailbox server" I find that it wont recognise local mail: that is if the server is called "mailbox" and a user has a YP alias like "user@mailbox" mail sent from the mailhost (gateway?) machine seems to be sent to the mailbox machine OK but the machine doesnt recognise the user as local and sends it back to the mailhost - reulting in a loop of course. I have tried adding lines like "Cmmailbox.mrc-apu.cam.ac.uk" and this causes sendmail to reduce "user@mailbox.mrc-apu.cam.ac.uk" to "user@LOCAL" but sendmail then turns this into "user@mrc-apu.cam.ac.uk" and sends this over the "ether" channel, causing the loop. Has anyone got a sendmail.subsidiary.cf file to work as a mailbox server? Any hints? Steve Platt Computer Manager MRC Applied Psychology Unit 15 Chaucer Road Cambridge CB2 2EF
