Keywords: backup, wbak Message-ID: <1990Jun7.172314.8364@csrd.uiuc.edu> Date: 7 Jun 90 17:23:14 GMT Sender: usenet@csrd.uiuc.edu (news) Distribution: comp Organization: UIUC Center for Supercomputing Research and Development Lines: 13 We have eight Unix hosts, one Apollo DN10000, and no Domain/OS experts. We have a 2 Gb 8mm cartridge tape drive on a Unix host, and I would like to use it for backing up the 700 Mb disk on Apollo. I tried: wbak -stdout -nhi //quantum | rsh illiant dd of=/dev/rcartridge ibs=4k obs=64k But it fails after a few minutes with "write error 0" (I believe it's dd that prints this error message). Would someone please enlighten me with a solution? Patrick Wolfe (pat@kai.com, kailand!pat) System Programmer/Operations Manager, Kuck & Associates
