I have a Rom 01 GS
         AE TWGS Version 8S, revision 1.5w
         1M Apple card (fully populated)
         2 3.5" drives, 1 5.25" drive
         MDIdeas SuperSonic stero card

and I have the exact same problem.  It's related to the TWGS.  For me, it gets
better when I leave the computer turned on, or allow it to "warm up".
Otherwise it happens all the time.  I figure it has something to do with the
Power Supply.
