It comes with a microphone, a digitizing board, complete software to run it along with some demo disks, a small amplified speaker for the GS, and a whole lot of potential. I have used mine to digitize voices and it does quite well, allowing me quite a bit of latitude in how I alter them. They also describe how to digitize sounds from a cassette player, as you mentioned, though I have not done this yet (for being to lazy to get a small jack). HyperStudio is sold by Roger Wagner Publishing and is usually listed in the discount ads as around $75 or $80. It's well worth the money.
