Previously I mentioned the lack of effectiveness of TRANSKEY.

I have discovered that I am not using a keyboard deemed "compatible" by
MICRO SOLUTIONS, maker of the TRANSKEY, and it is thus not functioning as
promised.

I need to go to a local store and purchase a BTC or Keytronics 1o1-key AT
compatible keyboard.  I shall do so on MONDAY.  

I will post another update to inform you all if this rectifies the problem.
