Message-ID: <3012@crash.cts.com> Date: 5 Jun 90 23:36:24 GMT Sender: root@crash.cts.com Lines: 23 I finnally saw, close up, the Atari ST. The guy had an Atari 1040ST 1Meg and an accellerated Atari Mega-4st. It looks like a great machine, but what I dislike about it(compared to Amiga), is it's not built around multitasking, it has even less U.S. support than Commodore(but that doesn't make a difference), it only has 16 colors(I don't care that much), and it's sound is only 3 mono voices. So the only bad things I see really are its poor sound, non-multitasking centered, and necessary proprietary monitors. What I really like about it compared to a stock Amiga: It was much faster and managed memory a little better(Than again, he was running a 68000 at 16MHz, while my Amiga only runs a 68000 at 8MHz, he had 4 Meg RAM, I only have 2.5 Meg), and it has a program that seems to blow away all Amiga 3d graphics programs for speed and user interface: CYBER PAINT. All in all, it was nice to see another minority in the majority IBM world and I was glad to see that the Atari ST really is a serious machine and not just a 'game machine.' ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ProLine: DanB20@pro-graphics ************************ UUCP: ...crash!pro-graphics!DanB20 * Daniel G.
