It works great & lives up to all it's advertising copy. (A rare occurance -- especially in the computer industry!!) The GCR does (with a little fiddling) allow *MOST* ST drives to read & write Mac disks directly. It depends on your ST & which drive Atari put in it when it was manufactured. (I'll post more detailed info on this tomorrow when I can bring my manual in). You don't *require* a second drive to run a Mac but unless you like to swap *LOTS* of diskettes I recommend you get a Hard disk drive. Positive results w/ the emulator - Mac Write - Microsoft Word - Microsoft Excel - Mac Draw - Super Paint - HyperCard - Various Init Docs (On Cue, Pyro, Suitcase II, etc.) All these programs work flawlessly in Mac emulation mode. I had trouble with a chess game (?title?) and an adventure game (?title?). Also, sound emulation is weak (I don't have the latest update of the software). Last but not least **SUPPORT FOR THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT** Dave Small takes a personal interest in keeping this product on the 'edge of the envelope' (his words -- not mine). Software updates are available on Genie! and possibly Compuserve. Phone support is excellent (Talk to Dave directly) and when you do have to leave a message on the answering machine -- he calls back promptly. Tyler Disclaimer: The Ohio State University doesn't know (or care) about my opinions and neither should you! PS. Any HDD which works with the Atari should work w/ Spectre. You just assign 1 or more partitions to the Spectre during installation of the emulator. I will post the phone number for Gadgets by Small ASAP.
