Lines: 35 tar hackers: I have discovered a limitation using the tar command on the DECStations 2100 running version 3.1 of Ultrix. tar issues the following error when I tar a sub-directory when my current working directory is ~100 characters long: tar: File name too long: is my current working directory The tar command I am issueing is tar cvf tar.out tar.in tar.in is a directory w/ only two levels of sub-directories (ie. much less than the 100 character limitation) I have tested this on the Sun Sparcstation running 4.1 of Sun-OS with no problems. Is there a way around this limitation? Thanks in advance! -- +--John Sims, SAS Institute Inc.
