I need to add a bunch of PCs to our thin EtherNet, but we are currently past the recommended line length limit. For the past few years we have had one repeater in the line. I think it is an IsoLAN 1120. I sometimes have difficulty reaching machines on the other side of the repeater, but I don't know whose fault it is. I asked my regular vendors for quotes for repeaters. Two have responded. One bid on the IsoLAN 1120 and another bid a 3C588 repeater with two 3C582 Thin EtherNet modules. The latter is more expensive because of the modules. Do I need something else (like modules) for the IsoLAN? Is one better than the other? Any other recommendations? I just don't know much about this stuff, so I throw myself on the mercy of my fellow news junkies. -- Marshall L.
