I thought I could figure this one out, but I haven't been able to. So I'll ask my (probably) simple question here on netland. When sendmail sends and receives mail, it timestamps the "Received by:" line incorrectly. We're in the "EST5EDT" timezone, and that is set correctly by the /etc/environment file. However, the offset should be '-0400' from GMT since we're currently in D.S.T., but it's not - it says '-0500', and is subtracting an hour from the time the mail was actually received. I did some tests using the 'date' command as the superuser, and it does switch from EDT/EST like it should (probably because date is reading the default TZ variable.) I would guess that sendmail is reading the system timezone, which is probably not configured for D.S.T. or something. Any suggestions? -- Eddy J.
