Segre) Distribution: comp Organization: Cornell Univ. CS Dept, Ithaca NY Lines: 36 I have a Toshiba T1000SE I use predominantly as a remote terminal at home and for some text editing when I travel. Being new to the PC world, there are a few things I don't understand. I hope someone out there can help. 1) I use MSKERMIT version 2.31 to emulate a VT102 terminal when connecting to assorted UNIX boxes at work. I would like to use the ALT key on the keyboard as a META key in GNUEmacs, but don't know how to get the VT102 emulator to act appropriately. Surely someone out there has done this? 2) In a similar vein, I would very much like to have Ctrl-space not simply send a space; trying the MSKERMIT SHOW KEY command on Ctrl-space and space reveals no difference between the two keys. How do I change this? I originally suspected this was a problem getting the VT102 terminal emulator from MSKERMIT to send the proper key sequences, but now I've noted the same problem differentiating Ctrl-space and space when running a small public-domain emacs (Freemacs from grape.ecs.clarkson.edu) locally on the PC. I'm using the standard keyboard driver; would I have better luck with ANSI.SYS? Any suggestions? -alberto ====== Alberto Segre [segre@cs.cornell.edu] Assistant Professor Cornell University Department of Computer Science Upson Hall Ithaca, NY 14853-7501 Tel (607) 255-9196 Fax (607) 255-4428
