I feel somewhat guilty for posting on this subject, since it's so
heavily discussed, but I haven't seen the answer to my question yet, so
here goes.

Can I download and read news on a Mac that's *not* directly linked to a
host computer.  Most answers dealing with news on a Mac seem to imply
that the user is connected by ethernet to the host.  How about doing
modem transfers at night, then reading news later?  Is there software to
do this?  Will the Apple stack do this?
