Path: utzoo!utgpu!news-server.csri.toronto.edu!mailrus!cs.utexas.edu!rice!sun-spots-request From: devil@TECHUNIX.BITNET (Gil Tene) Newsgroups: comp.sys.sun Subject: SLC S-bus expansion : SUMMARY. Keywords: Hardware Message-ID: <8475@brazos.Rice.edu> Date: 1 Jun 90 18:11:01 GMT Sender: root@rice.edu Organization: Sun-Spots Lines: 22 Approved: Sun-Spots@rice.edu X-Refs: Original: v9n195 X-Sun-Spots-Digest: Volume 9, Issue 197, message 2 The question was something like : "Can I use S-bus expansion products to add S-bus slots to the Sparcstation SLC ?". To quote kessler@suneast.East.Sun.COM (Tom Kessler) : "Think of it as a zero slot S-bus with a monochrome framebuffer permanently attached to it. " It seems that the SLC has the Sbus architecture built into it, but "wired" out of it. The one S-bus connection is the mono frame buffer which is wired onto the board, no Sbus connectors going out. This means : NO ! you cannot fiddle with the SLC and add Sbus slots to it, what a shame...
