Message-ID: <1029@orange19.qtp.ufl.edu> Date: 7 Jun 90 19:38:19 GMT Reply-To: bernhold@qtp.ufl.edu (David E. Bernholdt) Organization: University of Florida Quantum Theory Project Lines: 19 We are considering striping some of the disks on our FPS-500EA1 and would like to hear the positive or negative experiences of others with striping disks on any kind of high-performance (unix) box. The striped disks will be used solely as "scratch" space by running jobs, so the problem of the failure of a single drive destroying the entire striped file system is not a concern. Perhaps there are other problems which we haven't thought of? Should we expect to see significant improvement in I/O rates in a multi-user production environment? Etc... Please reply by email -- I will summarize if there is interest. Thanks in advance. -- David Bernholdt bernhold@qtp.ufl.edu Quantum Theory Project bernhold@ufpine.bitnet University of Florida Gainesville, FL 32611 904/392 6365
