I've got a remote system with an el-cheepo-Hayes clone... a Avatex 2400 baud (V.22bis) that answers at 2400, and switches to 1200 on modem break. My Telebit T2500s are set up in the convential command mode and dial the number at 2400-E-1.... the phone rings, the modems sync, I get a carrier detect light, I get "CONNECT 2400", then I get crap. What appears on the screen is similar is some respect to what you get when you're connected at the wrong baud rate (characters typed echo back bursts of garbage). I've tried different combinations of parity, stop bits, guard tones, etc, but on no avail. No other (non-Telebit) modem has trouble talking to that Avatex, and I haven't found any other 2400 baud modem that the T2500s can't talk to. Any suggestions? Emmet P.
