I am not even sure whether there is a link between AI and Geodetic Adaption, but I overheard the name today and believe it is a method to find a robust region so that independent parameters have only small sensitivity to a change in input. This would mean that if implemented as an algorithm, geodetic adaption would not look for a single peak, but for the greates hill within some value that is to be optimized.
