I have some comments on that in a paper in the Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Machine Learning. The Proceedings are to be published by Morgan Kaufmann. The conference will take place next week. If you are going there, look out for me! Apart from presenting the paper, I am organizing a discussion group on knowledge base refinement. I have a couple of other papers that address the topic you are interested in. One is going to be published by the *International Journal of Approximate Reasoning*, probably in January 1991. The other is somewhere (:-)) in the submission/revision process. From the algorithmic standpoint, there are many similarities between knowledge base refinement and neural network training. My dissertation was on the topic of knowledge base refinement. At the time I started that work, neural networks were a dead field. Now, the balance of interest has shifted in the opposite direction! > >Thanx, > >Digvijay. You are welcome!
