He currently is running some informix software on a separate machine. The parameters for the distribution center are as follows. The number of stock items is 1000 now with growth to 2000 or more expected. Multiple fields describe a variety of item characteristics. Bar coded data entry required as stock is added/removed. Data is later transfered to the computer. System prints bar codes to be assigned in the distribution center. Reports summarize inventory activity by store. System prints invoices when bar code data is uploaded. The computer hardware to do this has not been determined, but a Unix based system would permit interface to an existing computer. Who sells generic inventory control database systems that might apply in this application? How much CPU and hard disk do I need? Where can I get a suitable bar code interface? Do I go with DOS or Unix? etc....... C. David Covington (WA5TGF) cdc@uafhcx.uark.edu (501) 575-6583 Asst Prof, Elec Eng Univ of Arkansas Fayetteville, AR 72701
