Compare the cost of the whole system if you are going to compare things: if you go with DOS, you are going to have to buy: 1) DOS ($70 for 3.3?), 2) A compiler (another $100 at least, at today's prices, not two year old ones.) 3) Get uupc to replace uucp, 4) other utilities: DOS doesn't give you stuff like cron. Coherent isn't for everybody though.
