They are, respectively, the SMI, MIB, and SNMP. Because 1155, 1156, and 1157 have reached the end of the standardization process, the three documents together are sometimes referred to as the Internet-standard network management framework. RFC 1158 is a "proposed standard, with recommended status". It is MIB-II, the proposed successor to the Internet-standard MIB, and fully compatible with RFC1156. RFC 1095 is a "draft standard". It is CMOT. There is a new internet-draft specifying a new version of CMOT. As it is an internet-draft, it has no standardization status. RFC 1156 can be used with both SNMP(1157) and CMOT(1095). RFC 1109 said that the work on SNMP and CMOT could use different MIBs. RFC 1158 can be used with SNMP. I am told there is a document which casts RFC 1158 into a form useable for CMOT. It is my believe that this is the "truth, and whole truth, and nothing but the truth" regarding the standardization status of these technologies. Beyond this, work continues, both in producing new experimental MIBs (e.g., for FDDI), and in re-evaluating existing technology. /mtr
