Here's something that I've wondered about:

How does a gateway machine know which ethernet connection to use?


I understand there could be times that you would want to broadcast through 
both ethernet connections.  But aren't there times you just want to send
data out of one connection, leaving the other one alone?  

Where can I find documentation on this?  Most of anything I've read, deals 
with single-homed systems.
